Notes

  1. Adding leche flan is what makes this halo halo recipe super decadent! Half our recipe using our Creamy Filipino Leche Flan for Your Next Party to cut the perfect bite-sized pieces to top your halo halo.
  2. Having evaporated milk is so convenient to carry in your pantry and works perfectly in this Filipino halo halo dessert. You can use actual milk if desired.
  3. We love using the halo halo mixture as it can be expensive to buy each topping separately. The halo halo mixture will usually have the basics like palm fruit, nata de coco, white beans, red mung beans, jackfruit, and sometimes even banana.
  4. Don't worry if you don't have an ice crusher! You can use crushed ice from the refrigerator or you can use your blender to shave the ice to the desired consistency. Another alternative option is to put the ice cubes in a Ziploc bag and smash it with a meat tenderizer. The bigger the chunks, the flavors will not blend well!
  5. The topping choices are endless with halo halo. See Sam’s Pro Tips for this Filipino Halo Halo Dessert for further topping choices and tips.
  6. No measuring required in this recipe! Serve to preference based on the size of glass used. Tall glasses work best!
