Ingredients

  • 6 pork chops bone-in or boneless can be used
  • 6 thick-cut slices apple smoked bacon diced
  • 1 Granny Smith apple peeled and wedged cut
  • 1 Honeycrisp apple peeled and wedged cut
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon thyme
  • 1 teaspoon rosemary
  • sea salt and freshly ground pepper
  • ½ cup onion diced
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • water
  • honey optional

Instructions

  • Add olive oil and unsalted butter to a skillet large enough to use for the 6 pork chops over medium heat. Once the butter has melted, place the 6 pork chops into the skillet. Season with the garlic powder, thyme, rosemary, sea salt, and freshly ground pepper (this will be done on both sides of the pork).
  • Cook each side of the pork chop until slightly browned for about 5 minutes on each side or so. Reduce the heat to medium low, add a little bit of water in the skillet, and close the lid. Cook for about 10-15 minutes or until the inside is no longer pink. See note below.
  • Remove the pork from the skillet and place off to the side. Add the diced bacon into the skillet and cook for about 5-7 minutes or until slightly crisp. Add the onion and garlic in with the bacon and cook until the onion is softened.
  • Add the apples into the skillet and mix with the onion and garlic. Close the lid for about 5 minutes or until the apples are soft.
  • Toss the pork back into the skillet and mix together until the pork is warmed for another 1-2 minutes. Optional: When plating the pork, garnish with a drizzle of honey for added sweetness. Enjoy!

Notes

  1. For this recipe, I used boneless center-cut pork loin chops. Pork can overcook really fast! Please see Sam’s Pro Tips for these Juicy Bacon Pork Chops with Apples for further discussion on how to cook your pork chops.
