  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 4 all-beef hot dogs chopped
  • 1 onion diced
  • 5 garlic cloves minced
  • 15 ounces tomato sauce
  • 6 ounces tomato paste
  • ½ cup banana ketchup
  • 6 ounces Dole Pineapple Juice can
  • 5 bay leaves
  • ½ tablespoon chili flakes plus more for seasoning
  • 1 tablespoon dried basil plus more for seasoning
  • 1 tablespoon oregano plus more for seasoning
  • ¼ cup shredded parmesan cheese

Instructions

  • Cook the pasta according to directions. Before the water starts to boil, add about a tablespoon of salt and olive oil into the water. Stir the pasta to prevent sticking and drain when ready.
  • In a large sauté pan over medium heat, add the ground beef. Cook until browned for 5-7 minutes.

  • Add the tomato sauce, tomato paste, banana ketchup, pineapple juice, chili flakes, dried basil, oregano, salt and pepper to taste. Stir to combine.
  • Using a food processor, finely chop the hot dogs. Add the chopped hot dogs to the ground beef mixture. Stir to combine.
  • Add the bay leaves to the meat mixture. Cover and simmer over medium-low heat for 10 minutes.
  • At the 5-minute mark of the 10 minutes, add the shredded parmesan cheese. Cover for the remaining 5 minutes. Add additional chili flakes, basil, or oregano if needed. Remove the bay leaves when serving. Enjoy!
