20-Minute Filipino Sardines Pasta Recipe

This Filipino sardines pasta recipe is a deliciously spicy dish using popular brand Ligo Sardines! Sauteed with habaneros, tomatoes, and fresh herbs, this saucy pasta is full of amazing flavor! A unique twist on ginisang sardinas!

Ingredients

  • 33 ounces Ligo Sardines in Tomato Sauce Chili Added
  • 8 ounces linguini
  • 2 habaneros minced
  • cups grape tomatoes halved
  • 6 garlic cloves minced
  • 2 tablespoons vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons lemon
  • cup parsley chopped
  • cup green onion chopped
  • olive oil
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • shredded parmesan optional

Instructions

  • Cook the pasta according to directions. Before the water starts to boil, add about a tablespoon of salt and olive oil into the water. Stir the pasta to prevent sticking and drain when ready.
  • Add olive oil in a large sauté pan over medium heat. Once the olive oil is heated, add the garlic and habanero to the pan and cook for 2 minutes until softened.
  • Add the Ligo Sardines in Tomato Sauce Chili Added, halved grape tomatoes, vinegar, lemon, and pepper to taste. Stir to combine. Simmer over medium-low heat covered for 10 minutes.
  • Remove the cover and cook for another 3 minutes on low until the sauce is slightly reduced. Toss the cooked pasta in the sauce. Add the parsley, green onion, and pepper to taste to the pasta. Enjoy!

Notes

  1. I used 2 habaneros in this recipe, but you can start with 1 if you haven’t had habaneros before. If you don’t have habaneros or want other spice choices, refer to Sam’s Pro Tips for this Filipino Sardines Pasta Recipe for further discussion.
